The Victorian Teashop Opening Times

The Philosopher, Emmanuel Kant was, in later life, an absolute stickler for punctuality and schedule. He lived his life by the clock – a strict and predictable life. Fortunately for him, he didn't live in Matlock Bath.

The Victorian Teashop, being in Matlock Bath, has difficulties presenting a strict timetable. Over the years, Matlock Bath has become very seasonal and has moments when it still seems to grind to a halt, even in summer and is very 'weather dependent'.

There are also at least two opposing markets in Matlock Bath that go in and out like the tide (quite fitting for a place that thinks it's a seaside venue). However, it does cause us problems and even when the place is very busy, it can be no place for a nice teashop.

Our opening times are therefore as follows and we are happy with them and that they work for us and for the public. However, if making a special trip it is advised that you call us first as we can never promise to be open.

Boxing day for two weeks or so – we are open most days apart from Tuesday or Thursday from 10.00am until 4.30 or 5.00pm.

For most of January, February, March, April and May we are open Saturday, Sunday and Monday
from 10.00am until 5.00pm.

From June until September we are open Saturday, Sunday, Monday and also Wednesday and Thursday from 10.00am until 5.00 or 6.00pm.

Weekday business in October can be disrupted by firework displays on some Saturdays. Therefore we may only be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10.00am until 5.00pm or 6.00pm.

November and December up to Christmas eve we open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10.00am or 11.00am until 4.30 or 5.00pm.

  Rain

Kant defined Enlightenment as an age shaped by the motto, "Dare to know". This involved thinking autonomously, free of the dictates of external authority – so perhaps he would have managed fine in Matlock Bath after all.

Shine – with tumble weed

Come rain or shine...
we can never be absoutely sure we will be open in Matlock Bath...
